"Winter training in Tenerife. The dream has come true. A collaboration between Point-7 team boss Andrea Cucchi and Windsurf Club 77 Tenerife, powered by the Canarian trade winds; a permanent real 4 jibe downwind slalom course has been set up in the bay of El Medano, Tenerife. Tested and approved by Pascal Toselli and Andrea Cucchi, the course is now available for anyone who would like to come and battle it out. The marks are taken out at night, and on the water everyday from 1pm to 5pm.
Pascal Toselli F969: 'Training in Tenerife is a paradise as you get to sail with with all the different sail sizes in a variarty of condtions. We have wind every day and now with the set course training has now become so much more intence! It's so motivating to go on the water now! We have had the marks in the water for 3 days now and i think we already did 50 slalom heats, so really intense. The whole week will be windy now....' Andrea Cucchi ITA1 ' It yook a few days of work to get it all the marks set up and for the last 3 days we have been killing each other around the course. It's true luxury to have this setup available each day. I’ve been here for 2 months now and sailing everyday feeling fit, but already after doing 4 heats on the course i realized that freesailing and then doing a real course of racing are two very different things. Racing is so much harder! I think we all need to say a big 'Thank you' to Luca Orsi from Windsurf Club 77 Tenerife, who made this possible.'
In february in El Medano you will find Andrea Cucchi, Pascal Toselli, Luca Orsi, Adam Lewis(if not on double looping between the waves), Martin Toth, Jimmy Diaz, Markus Poltenstein, Nikolaj Kruppa, Sergey Makarenko, Greta Benvenuti, Cagla Kubat, Gunnar Asmussen + a lot of locals. So if you want to plan some hardcore slalom, come and join the fun!"
